1.       Please direct all inquiries regarding this department to these superintendents.

 

2.       Booths are to be set up between 4 and 6:00 PM Wednesday, July 6th or Thursday, July 7th 10 AM-Noon.  Booths will be removed on Sunday, July 10th or Monday, July 11th in the morning.  Early removal will result in forfeiture of premiums.  Junior Grange projects must be brought to the Fair between 9-11 AM, Thursday, July 7th.

 

3.       Judging for the exhibits and Jr. projects will be July 7th at 1 PM.

 

4.      EXHIBIT JUDING CRITERIA: Educational value (25 pts); theme development (15 pts); workmanship/labor (20 pts);

Public appeal (15 pts); accuracy and labeling (10 pts); arrangement and display (15 pts).

 

Each Grange will set up a display using a topic related to “WE ARE FAMILY”

If you are interested in doing a display please notify the Cayuga County Fair Grange Superintendent by June 30th.

 

 

2011 JUNIOR GRANGE CRAFT PROJECTS

 

All projects will be judged in groups as follows: Ages 5-8; 9-11; and 12-14.  Projects may be entered by Junior Grange members or children / grandchildren of Grange members.

 

POTATO ROLLS

Use your favorite recipe to make potato rolls.  MUST contain an ingredient of potato or by-product such as mashed potato, potato flakes, grated, dry, or instant potato, etc. Complete recipe must be included for judging.  Bake in a disposable round or square tin for judging.  Number of rolls depends on the baker.

 

JUDGING:         Flavor – 40%     Appearance – 30%      Texture – 30%

 

BUTTON CREATION

 

Create a craft using buttons.  Make jewelry, decorate a shirt, hat, vest, wall hanging, picture frame, magnet, toy box, notebook cover, etc.  USE YOUR IMAGINATION!  Buttons must be main focus.  Finished size not larger than 8”x8”x8” (including a folded size of a garment).

HAND-MADE VALENTINE CARD

 

Using an 8×11 piece of paper or card stock, make a Valenting card.  May fold paper/card as desired.  Decorate using any medium such as crayon, markers, stickers, yarn, lace, doilies, punch outs, foam old cards, ribbon, etc.

DO NOT USE any computer generated artwork, please.

SAND PAPER TRANSFER (Retro-craft)

 

Utilizing a piece of sand paper, not to exceed 8”X11” (Finer grit gives a better detail) design a picture or series of pictures with crayon on the grit side.  WITH ADULT ASSISTANCE, iron design on any smooth fabric (such as hats, shirt, towel, tote bag, bandana, handkerchief, etc.)  The sheet of sand paper may be cut into pieces before ironing.  All designed pieces of sand paper MUST be submitted with the completed item.

WEAVING CRAFT

 

Create a craft by weaving.  Use any medium such as paper, yarn, plastic canvas, plastic bags, ribbon, cardboard, fabric, etc.  Make a craft such as a basket, tote bag, potholder, picture frame, placemat, wall hanging, hot mat, doormat, etc.  Finished size not to exceed 24”x24”x24”.

SPECIAL “OTHER” CRAFT PROJECT

 

Two categories – Individual (ages 10-14);  Group (all ages but must have one JG member age 10-14).  May enter as an individual and/or group. Enter items such as scrapbooks, banners, posters, Agri-Basic report, Legislative craft, digital photography, needle-point, etc.  ANYTHING that has been worked on in the past year and compacted/able to fit in a 12”x12’”x12” space for ease of transporting.  All entries to be judged at State Grange session.
