New York State Pony Pullers coming to the Cayuga County Fair!

We are pleased to announce that the NYS Pony Pullers Association will be at the Cayuga County Fair on Friday, June 28, 2013.  These mighty mites pull just like the big guys!  We expect the evening will be fun, noisy, and entertaining.  Classes for lightweights and middleweights will be held, starting at 5 PM, with prizes for the best pulls.

Teams from all over New York State will be competing. Get to the fair early, look at the ponies, and cheer on your favorite team.  These ponies love the noise and excitement, and their handlers appreciate your support.

This event is one night only, so don’t miss it.  The pony pull will be held in the horse show ring on Friday June 28th beginning at 5:00.

Mahoney School of Irish Dance

Many people think about Irish step dancing only when they see dancers — feet going a mile a minute and upper bodies motionless — in St. Patrick’s Day parades or in something like “Riverdance.”  Instructor of Mahoney School of Irish Dance, Maureen Mahoney first got involved in the tradition of step dancing because her mother was born and raised in Ireland. But it was her father who really pushed her to pursue it competitively, something she would eventually do nationally on a championship level. She was originally taught by Pat Butler from the Butler Academy of Dance in Toronto, who was brought in to upstate New York. Mahoney is now a certified instructor herself. The Mahoney School of Irish Dance has students of all ages from different towns all with a love of Irish dancing.

Students will be performing on Sunday June 30, 2013 at 1:00 on the Community Stage.  Be sure to catch their show and see all those feet flying across the stage!

Check out the Antique Car Show!

There is something about an antique car that stirs the imagination.  Do you remember what model car your grandfather drove?  Or your great grandfather?  You might see one like it in the antique car exhibit at the Cayuga County Fair this year.  Step into the near past, or distant past, to view these wonderful classic automobiles that have been carefully restored to like new condition.

Talk with their owners and experience the passion and excitement of owning these vintage automobiles.  The Finger Lakes Region Antique Automobile Club of America, in existence for over forty years,  will be joining us on family day at the fair, Saturday, June 29th.  They will be located in the parking lot of the Motorsport Hall of Fame and Classic Car Museum at the Cayuga County Fairgrounds.

Plan to take in the race car museum and all it has to offer while you are in the area.

Hall of Fame & Classic Car Museum

The only Motorsports Museum of its kid in all of New York State is located in Weedsport, NY, adjacent to the Cayuga County Fairgrounds.  Cruise through exhibits of years gone by, while the history of motorsports flashes by your eyes and through your mind: Classic Cars, historic race cars, racing memorabilia and a full color racing pictorial exhibit.  The feature attraction, “Hall of Fame” is the showcase to legendary drivers who are inducted at the Annual Ceremonies held each year in the spring. The Hall of Fame & Classic Car Museum was founded in 1992 by Glenn Donnelly.  Stop in and see the legends of racing!
